The magazine genre I have chosen for my music magazine is Classical music. I have chosen this genre because it is a genre of music that i am interested in. I can also get some classical instruments to use for the cover photo and double page spread, along with the person who plays it. This helps in making the photo look more authentic then it would with someone who'd never used such an instrument before. This genre also allows me to write about things relative to the audience and use the appropriate terminology on the double page spread.
There are many well known artists from the past who have made Classical music, famous ones such as Mozart and Beethoven, and less well known ones in more recent times such as Lisa Batiashvili and Ludovico Einaudi, who are both more recent artists that the other two. The music produced in this genre is usually on brass, piano and string instruments. These instruments are commonly used together, as they compliment each other very well, with the brass taking the background, string being fairly predominant and the piano being used as the main instrument.
In the Top 40 Downloads Chart, pictured below, you will notice that none of the songs in it are of a classical genre. This is because the audience that classical music is meant to be targeted at is an older or middle aged audience, and therefore wouldn't use a computer for their musical needs. Because of this, they do not often download music from websites which contribute to the downloads chart, meaning that the chart isn't a true representation of what people are listening too. Therefore, the classical music that they listen to won't appear in the Top 40 Downloads Chart.
